“I know your works and your labor and your patience, and how you cannot bear them that are evil. And you have tried them who say they are apostles and are not; and has found them liars. And you have patience and have endured for My Name without growing tired. But I have somewhat against you, for you have forgotten your initial charity. Be mindful, therefore, from where you have fallen: and do penance and return to your first works. Or else, if you do not repent, I shall come to you and remove your lamp-stand from its place, unless you do penance. But this is in your favor, that you loathe the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also loathe. He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches: to him that overcomes I will give to eat from the Tree of Life which is in the paradise of God” (Rv 2:2-7).
