The call – 2

“And being asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God was to come, He answered them and said, ‘The Kingdom of God does not come with observation. Neither shall they say: Behold there, or behold here! For lo, the Kingdom of God is within you.’ And He said to His disciples, ‘The days will come when you desire to see one day of the Son of man. And you shall not see it. And they will say to you: See here, and see there. Do not go after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning flashing down from one part of heaven lights up the other, so shall the Son of man be when His Day comes. But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.'”

“‘And as it was in Noah’s day, so will it also be in the days of the Son of man. They ate and drank, married wives and husbands, right up to the day Noah entered the ark and the Flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was in the days of Lot: they ate and drank, bought and sold, planted and built. And in the day that Lot left Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from Heaven and destroyed them all.'”

“‘It will be the same when the day comes for the Son of man to be revealed. In that hour, no one on the housetop, with his possessions in the house, must come down to collect them, nor must anyone in the fields turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. Anyone who tries to preserve his life will lose it and anyone who loses it will preserve it. I tell you, on that night there shall be two men in one bed. The one shall be taken and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together. The one shall be taken and the other shall be left.’ The disciples answered, saying to Him, ‘Where, Lord?’ He said, ‘Where the body shall be, there too will the vultures gather'” (Lk 17:20-37).
