How we are calling down the Wrath and Judgment of God the Father

In this day and age, we have gotten quite used to rationalizing away everything that we do as acceptable, with the rationalizations that we come up with taking all shapes, sizes and colors – the more, the merrier. However, no matter who may say what where, the stark reality is that the following activities of ours still call down upon us, our families, communities, societies and nations the holy Wrath, Judgment and retribution of God our Father; and this regardless of how much we subjectively rationalize away such activities or otherwise. The activities in question are:

  1. Killing another: “Then Yahweh said to Cain, ‘What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. Therefore, you are cursed more than the ground, which opened wide its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it shall no longer yield its strength to you. You shall become a vagrant and a wanderer on earth'” (Gn 4:10-11);
  2. Sodomy: “So HaShem said, ‘Because the outcry of Sodom and Gomorrah has become great, and because their sin has become very grave, I will descend and see: If they act in accordance with its outcry which has come to Me – then destruction! And if not, I will know'” (Gn 18:20-21). “The townspeople, Sodomites, converged upon the house, from young to old, all the people from every quarter. And they called to Lot and said to him, ‘Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them’ . . . [Lot replied], ‘I beg you, my brothers, do not act wickedly. See, now, I have two daughters who have never known a man. I shall bring them out to you and do to them as you please; but to these men do nothing inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof’ . . . [And the angels said to Lot], ‘All that you have in the city remove from the place, for we are about to destroy this place. For their outcry has become great before HaShem, so He has sent us to destroy it'” (Gn 19:4-13);
  3. Oppression: “You shall not taunt or oppress a stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall not cause pain to any widow or orphan. If you dare to cause them pain – if they shall cry out to Me, I shall surely hear their outcry. My Wrath shall blaze and I shall kill you by the sword, and your wives will be widows and your children orphans'” (Gn 22:20-23);
  4. Exploitation: “You shall not cheat a poor or destitute hired person among your brethren, or a proselyte who is in your land, or one who is in your cities. On that day shall you pay his hire; the sun shall not set upon him, for he is poor and his life depends on it. Let him not call out against you to HaShem, for it shall be a sin in you'” (Dt 24:14-15).
