How often do we abandon ourselves in God the Father’s Divine Will, with the entirety of our minds, hearts, bodies, and souls; in terms of not knowing the outcome to ourselves of such abandonment? That is an abandonment that is both inherent in, and characteristic of, that true simplicity and filial trust of a young child in the infinitely loving, tender, and benevolent Father Who can do no wrong? A childlike simplicity and trust that our Father’s Divine Heart very deeply desires and requests daily from us, so that He can freely fulfill, both within us and the world around us, His paternal and parental functions. What does it really mean to be a child of God the Father?
Since this question keeps on being repeatedly asked by many, here is an answer I originally posted back in 2013:
To be a child of God means to be an adoptive member of the Divine Family.
When we become children of the living God by taking steps to rediscover our true heritage and giving the Almighty Father our fiat with sincerity of heart, in essence and in fact, we become adoptive members of the Divine Family. The Family – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and, yes, even the Mother* – take us in. They take us into Their Hearts and envelop us in Their bosom, showering us with all we need to become gods by grace (2 P 1:4; Ps 82:6). It is time – The relationship between the Father and the child
And everyone who has left houses, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children or land for the sake of My Name will be repaid a hundred times over, and also inherit eternal life (Mt 19:29).
Give Him everything. It is time. Give Him everything without the slightest hesitation: everything you are and everything you are not; everything you have and everything you have not, down to the slightest thing. The Almighty and incomparable Father will supply and repay you like none other. He will repay you with a joy beyond description and He will give you His very own Self.
Yes, the Father will give you Himself and everything that is His in the entire universe, including His only-begotten Son in like (but not identical) manner to how He had given Him to the Virgin Mary – the coming of the Kingdom. Give yourself to the Heavenly Father, therefore, no matter who you are; no matter where you are. Give yourself to Him without fear, from the bottom of your heart. You can never lose, you can only gain.
What is the meaning of the divine inheritance?
The question was asked, “What does ‘the divine inheritance’ mean?” The response is simple, though by no means brief if answered in depth. The divine inheritance means we are called to literally inherit everything God the Father has, with Himself as Perfect Love above all else. And you have no idea what that is like, what perfect bliss and joy it entails, until you have tasted it. Continue reading “What is the meaning of the divine inheritance?”

Children of the one Father – Thought for the day
“We are all called to be children of the one Father and brothers among ourselves . . . God is reality with a capital ‘R’ . . . a Father of goodness and infinite mercy” (Pope Francis, Letter to Eugenio Scalfari, 2013).
Being a child of God
To be a human being means to be a child of God. Yet many of us reject without thought the love which God our Father desires to give us, whereas others remain clueless about who our true Father is and the profundity with which He loves each one of us on an individual, personal level. As human beings, we desire love. It is inherent in our makeup. But we reject love when it is given to us freely and Continue reading “Being a child of God”
Description of God the Father – 3
FOR HIS GLORY
The Father who is Infinite Love
About two weeks after You gave me the illumination of conscience, You – God the Father – desired to show me with precision just how much of a tender, loving Father You are despite Your omnipotence. You chose to do this because You knew the extent to which I had been afraid of You my whole life and still was to some degree – as so many people are – despite my consecration to You. After all, throughout the Old Testament, despite what was described as my uncanny attraction to it since childhood, You were repeatedly portrayed as annihilating all and sundry in various ways because they betrayed Your trust in them. You did not exactly come across as a loving God. Continue reading “Description of God the Father – 3”
