A faithful God

“I lift my eyes to the mountains: where is help to come from? Help comes to me from Yahweh who made heaven and earth. No letting our footsteps slip! This guard of yours, He does not doze! The guardian of Israel does not doze or sleep. Yahweh guards you, shades you. With Yahweh at your right hand, sun cannot strike you down by day, nor moon at night. Yahweh guards you from harm, he guards your lives; he guards you leaving, coming back, now and for always” (Ps 121:1-8).

The apostolic mission

“He called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all devils and to cure diseases, and He sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal. He said to them, ‘Take nothing for the journey: neither staff, nor haversack, nor bread, nor money; and let none of you take a spare tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there; and when you leave, let it be from there. As for those who do not welcome you, when you leave their town shake the dust from your feet as a sign to them.’ So they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the Good News and healing everywhere” (Lk 9:1-6).

Let us worship our Father in Spirit and in Truth

“Yahweh, God of gods, speaks, He summons the earth. From east to west, from Zion, perfection of beauty, He shines. Let our God come and be silent no more! Preceding Him, a devouring fire, round Him, a raging storm. He summons the heavens above and the earth to His people’s trial:  Continue reading “Let us worship our Father in Spirit and in Truth”

The first words Adam said to God the Father

These were the first words Adam said to God our Father after he realized who had created him: “I love You, my God, my Father, the Author of my life” (Iannuzzi, 2013, The Gift of Living in the Divine Will in the Writings of Luisa Piccarreta).

Thy Kingdom come – 1 – Thought for the day

“Thy Kingdom come:” how beautiful and profound are those three words in the Lord’s prayer. Inherently, though some are still unaware of this, those three words of Jesus Christ, which He taught us to say daily, mean that we are asking our beautiful Father to come and live in us as we live in Him. This as wherever there is the Almighty Father there is the Kingdom, because the Father Himself is the Kingdom and provides the kingdom for His faithful children to enjoy. Ergo “Thy Kingdom come” is the coming and reigning of the Divine Will on earth.

Raphael – The companion given by God

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER

Archangel Raphael

In ancient days you accompanied Tobit on his journey from and to his father’s house, at the request of the Eternal Father, to keep him safe and be a faithful companion to him on his travels. You also provided him and his family with healing, and led Tobit to meet and marry the beautiful Sarah, after he cooperated with defeating the demon Asmodeus under your guidance (cf. Tb, Chapters 5 to 12). As a result of this mission, you were assigned the office of patron of travelers, healers and conjugal love. Even though centuries have gone by, though, since you went on your journey with Tobit, you never stopped fulfilling this office in all its dimensions with regard to mankind.  Continue reading “Raphael – The companion given by God”

Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 3

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER

The Virgin Mary sings

You stood at the right archway of my dining room late that weekday evening, once again without your crown; wearing your white, floor-length mantle with its blue ribbon traveling inside its borders. This time you came as the joyful Mother at work. Singing an incredibly beautiful albeit unknown song with boundless joy, happiness and love on your petite face, your luxuriously melodious and tonal singing made me feel as though liquid love was suddenly being drained all over me. It was as though Heaven itself was being poured out. No earthly voice or song can, in fact, compare to yours, as your infinitely sweet song was the song of joy of the Holy Trinity mediated through your deified body.  Continue reading “Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 3”

Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 2

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER

The Virgin Mary, evil spirits and the Sacrament of Confession

You came out of your large statue which lies right above the tabernacle in the church which bears your name, when I was unknowingly surrounded by some evil spirits that Saturday afternoon while awaiting my turn in line to go to confession. I was already nervous at being there despite the priest-confessor being very good and thorough, kind and gentle, as it was only the second time I was attending after not having been for a significant period of time. Sitting in the pew waiting, I was hoping against hope that the person before me would get their confession over and done with, so that I could get in and out as quickly as possible. I had purposely sat at the end of the pew so if I felt I could not make it, I would be able to leave easily – hopefully unnoticed and without disturbing other people.  Continue reading “Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 2”

Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 1

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER

Our Lady of LongmeadowYou came that weekday morning in response to my question, “Is this church a (spiritually) safe place to be in?” A question I had been repeatedly but silently asking myself when I decided to return to the Church, after having attended Mass in some neighboring churches but in which heterodoxy and illicitness were both prevalent to some degree or another and unashamedly passed off as the new norm.

There you, the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – given to me by your Son when you were at the foot of His Cross and by the Father’s Divine Will, to be also my Mother as the Mother of all mankind – suddenly stood, in the main aisle of the church; at the fifth pew from the Continue reading “Description of the Virgin Mary, the Mother of God – 1”

Appropriateness of Devotion to God the Father

Devotion to God our Almighty Father: Appropriateness and doctrinal value

“In John’s Gospel, Jesus, in His conversation with the Samaritan woman, announces a new devotion: ‘The hour is coming and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father also seeks such to adore him’” (Jn 4:23; Galot, 1999).

“Devotion to the Father began with Jesus. How can it not be ours too? . . . For how many Christians is the Father, today, a living person? . . . [Meanwhile] preachers and spiritual directors who have spread it, have pointed out with joy the profound effects of purification and sanctification which it brings forth in souls. It seems as though there is a special grace attached to it. Why? Continue reading “Appropriateness of Devotion to God the Father”

Comparative description of Archangels Michael and Raphael

FOR THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER

Two of the most beautiful beings ever created by God our Father are His archangels Michael and Raphael. These two archangels are as different in character as they are similar in nature. Archangel Michael appears as short, stocky and fierce – a typical warrior, whereas Archangel Raphael appears as very tall, elegant and quiet – ‘stately’ is the word that comes to mind when attempting to describe Raphael. Both Michael and Raphael appear as translucent, especially with regard to both their countenances and beings, since they are robed in Our Father’s Splendor; His very own Divine Light.  Continue reading “Comparative description of Archangels Michael and Raphael”
