Appropriateness of Devotion to God the Father

Devotion to God our Almighty Father: Appropriateness and doctrinal value

“In John’s Gospel, Jesus, in His conversation with the Samaritan woman, announces a new devotion: ‘The hour is coming and now is, when the true adorers shall adore the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father also seeks such to adore him’” (Jn 4:23; Galot, 1999).

“Devotion to the Father began with Jesus. How can it not be ours too? . . . For how many Christians is the Father, today, a living person? . . . [Meanwhile] preachers and spiritual directors who have spread it, have pointed out with joy the profound effects of purification and sanctification which it brings forth in souls. It seems as though there is a special grace attached to it. Why? Continue reading “Appropriateness of Devotion to God the Father”

After the Great Chastisement – 3 – Living in the Era of Peace

“The wolf will live with the sheep and the leopard will lie down with the kid; and a calf, a lion whelp and a fatling will walk together, and a young child will lead them. A cow and bear will graze and their young will lie down together; and a lion, like cattle, will eat hay. A suckling will play by a viper’s hole and a newly weaned child will stretch his hand toward an adder’s lair. They will neither injure Continue reading “After the Great Chastisement – 3 – Living in the Era of Peace”

We were made to partake of the nature of God – Thought for the day

We were not originally created by God our Father simply to be human beings, as we commonly understand the term. Our Father created us in His image, to attain His likeness, so that we could become actual partakers of His own nature through grace, for “All things of [God’s] divine power which appertain to life and godliness are given to us, through the knowledge of Him who has called Continue reading “We were made to partake of the nature of God – Thought for the day”

On God the Father – 1 – Living in Him, in Spirit and in Truth

God the Father, uncircumscribed and uncreated, is “always good by nature, so He is always generative by nature . . . [He] represents all paternity and only paternity in relation to a unique Son, who represents all sonship and only sonship in relation to the Father . . . [Thus] when we think of Him as Father and call Him Father, He is understood exclusively as Father and He is related totally Continue reading “On God the Father – 1 – Living in Him, in Spirit and in Truth”

The true meaning of living in the Era of Peace

How shall we be living in the era of peace, after the great Chastisement has been fulfilled? Unlike for many, if not most, of us living presently in the era of the flesh, during the era of peace we will be living thoroughly spiritualized lives – lives we cannot even begin to conceive of, right now – because the said era will, in effect, be the era of the Reign of the Father, in the intensely Eucharistic  Continue reading “The true meaning of living in the Era of Peace”

How Our Father manifests Himself – Patristics

“God permits Himself to be seen face-to-face, not in enigmas . . . He becomes attached to those worthy as is a soul to its body, to its own members; that He unites Himself to them to the extent of dwelling completely in them, so that they too dwell entirely in Him, that ‘through the Son, the Spirit is poured out in abundance on us’ . . . [Thus] God allows Himself to be seen according to Continue reading “How Our Father manifests Himself – Patristics”

Leading others to Our Father – Thought for the day

If we are not steeped in prayer – genuine prayer from the heart; if we are not attached to God, making Him central in our lives, and actively living in His Holy Spirit, how can we hope to lead others to Our Father, rather than in the opposite direction? We cannot. Indeed, we will not, for only God has the power to lead, through His grace. We are simply His hands and feet on earth; nothing else.

Everything He has is ours – Thought for the day

Everything that Our glorious Father has is ours, for the taking, if we are willing to ask Him for it while living in Him – while living in His Divine Heart and Will. Our Father is infinitely rich: He has everything, He owns everything. But do we, in reality, want the infinite riches of Our Father, even though many of us ceaselessly claim to be heirs to His Kingdom? Our Father wants to give us Continue reading “Everything He has is ours – Thought for the day”
