Poverty

On poverty – 1

To not be wanted as a human being, a person: that is the most abject form of poverty. It is a poverty which trumps all other kinds of poverty, including that arising from ongoing material deprivation. Rejection of the person themselves – especially the systemic rejection, the repeated throwing away, of the person as a human being in their own right – is the worst thing one can ever experience, as it entails the crucifixion of the spirit which is the essence of life.
